Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking an active driver to operate straight trucks, tractor-trailers, or doubles in Frederick, MD. You will deliver products per route, maintain records, and uphold DOT and DFA safety standards while ensuring excellent customer service.

You must have a High School Diploma and a valid Class A CDL; 2+ years of recent experience is preferred. Expect a team environment with ongoing training and adherence to company policies as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience driving tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer within the last 5 years preferred.
• Must meet DFA and DOT requirements.
• Valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license for at least three years prior to application.

Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices.
• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner.
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns.
• Load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product.
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager.
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle.
• Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines.
• Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure.
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions.
• Use company supported applications or systems properly.
• Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals.

GENERAL PURPOSE
Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
• Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Certification and/or License - valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
