Job summary

Darling Ingredients seeks a Semi Driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle to pick up raw materials and support efficient, prompt customer service.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with evenings, drop and hook, and responsibility includes tarping loads, maintaining logs, and adhering to all safety and DOT regulations. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CDL Class A license with Tanker Endorsement.
• Clean MVR and safe driving record.
• Must be registered on FMCSA Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer to pick up raw materials and weigh in/out as required.
• Ensure loads are tarped and vehicle is clean.
• Perform safety checks and comply with state, federal, local regulations and company policy.
• Maintain DOT hours of service with onboard computer.
• Complete route tickets and related paperwork.
• Maintain daily vehicle condition reporting.
• Follow company policies and procedures.

Job Summary

The Semi Driver is responsible for operation of commercial motor vehicle to pick up raw material with attention to prompt and efficient customer service.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday; Evenings; Drop and Hook.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Run established route; pick up raw materials; weigh in raw material when returning to plant and weigh in and out of customer location as needed.
• Responsible for ensuring loads are tarped before leaving plant or customer location; maintain cleanliness at customer locations.
• Responsible for company vehicle; keeps vehicle in clean condition.
• Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.
• Maintain excellent customer relations by presenting professional appearance and attitude.
• Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc.).
• Maintain and update vehicle condition report daily.
• Maintain DOT hours of service with onboard computer in accordance with company policy.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current CDL Class A license holder with Tanker Endorsement
• With a clean MVR
• Must be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer at least 6 months of experience.
• Works well with others in a team environment.
• Dependable; reliable.
• Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Frequently required to reach up with both arms in securing tarps, etc.
