Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Skipper Driver to operate grease collection and fat and bone collection trucks, and to perform container maintenance and deliveries to customers.

The driver will cover Tuesday through Saturday with varying start times and may cover overnight runs, receiving a $0.50 shift differential when covering. Strong safety discipline and reliable teamwork are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21+ with clean MVR and valid CDL A with tanker endorsement.
• Overnight/weekend shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Load grease containers and ensure container cleanliness; complete route tickets with customer signature.
• Service customer containers and trailers; tarp trailers as required and maintain cleanliness of trailers.
• Manage established routes or bulk loads as assigned.
• Maintain company vehicle in clean condition and perform safety checks and inspections.
• Comply with state, federal, local regulations and company safety rules; attend safety meetings as required.
• Present professional appearance and maintain good customer relations.
• Complete all required paperwork (route tickets, vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage logs, service forms).
• Keep daily vehicle condition reports updated.

Job Summary

The Skipper Driver is responsible for operation of a grease collection truck, fat and bone collection truck, container maintenance, tractor trailer to collect raw material and finish goods deliveries while providing quality service to our customers.

• Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday; Start time could vary weekly due to this is a fill in driver.
• Will cover overnight runs as needed, will receive shift differential of $.50 when covering.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Pump or load grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; returns container with screen and lock secured; notes any damages to container or corral area; properly completes route ticket with customer signature.
• Service rendering (bulk or retail) customer container and/or trailers; ensure cleanliness of trailers and/or containers and surrounding area; tarp trailers as required prior to leaving customer location
• Responsible for established route or bulk loads as assigned.
• Responsible for company vehicle; keeps vehicle in clean condition.
• Conducts all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; operates vehicle under state, federal, local regulations and in accordance with company policy and procedures; observes all company safety rules.
• Attendance at all safety meetings required; may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• Maintain excellent customer relations by presenting professional appearance and attitude.
• Responsible for completing all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, etc).
• Maintain and update vehicle condition report on a daily basis.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 21 years of age with clean MVR.
• Current CDL "A" license holder with tanker endorsement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior route experience within a customer oriented environment preferred.
• Works well with others in a team environment.
• Dependable; reliable; ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
• Good math and communication skills.
• Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance.

Physical Demands

• Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a commercial motor vehicle, customer locations, and plant environment.
