Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. in Indiana seeks an on-site Yard Jockey to move trailers safely between docks and loading areas. You will relay movements to the Shipping lead and ensure loads are secured before dropping trailers.

This role requires climbing in/out of tractors, keeping equipment clean, and following all policies and laws. Strong communication and shift handoffs are essential for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Operate hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC for 53’ dry vans.
• Safely move trailers to and from dock doors for loading/unloading.
• Climb in/out of tractor repeatedly to hook/unhook trailers.
• Ensure trailers are clean and free of debris before docking.
• Adhere to all company policies and state/federal laws.
• Ensure loads are secured before dropping trailers.
• Report yard issues to the manager on duty.
• Note and correct asset repairs before preload.

Job description

On Site Position.. Responsible for safe and efficient movement of trailers to and from dock doors. Communicate all movements to Shipping lead.

• Must be able to safely and effectively operate a hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC with 53’ dry van.


• Responsible for safe movement of trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.


• Physical ability to repeatedly climb in and out of tractor to hook and unhook trailers.


• Ensure trailers are clean and free of debris before putting to dock.


• Adhere to all company policies.


• Adhere to all State, local, and Federal laws.


• Ensure load is secured before dropping trailer.


• Communicate all issues related to the yard operations to Manager on duty


• Ensure that all appropriate asset repairs are noted and corrected prior to preloading assets


• Perform a daily shift communication transition prior to the start of the shift
