Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking an on-site Dock/Yard Operator to safely move trailers to and from dock doors for loading and unloading. The role requires operating a hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC with a 53’ dry van, ensuring trailers are secured, clean, and compliant with policies and laws.

Strong communication with Shipping and yard supervision is essential. The position emphasizes physical stamina, adherence to safety standards, and accurate reporting of yard issues to the manager on duty.

Qualifications

• Must be able to safely and effectively operate a hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC with 53’ dry van.
• Responsible for safe movement of trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Physical ability to repeatedly climb in and out of tractor to hook and unhook trailers.

• Must be able to safely and effectively operate a hydraulic fifth wheel and TADC with 53’ dry van.
• Responsible for safe movement of trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Physical ability to repeatedly climb in and out of tractor to hook and unhook trailers.
• Ensure trailers are clean and free of debris before putting to dock.
• Adhere to all company policies.
• Adhere to all State, local, and Federal laws.
• Ensure load is secured before dropping trailer.
• Communicate all issues related to the yard operations to Manager on duty
• Ensure that all appropriate asset repairs are noted and corrected prior to preloading assets
• Perform a daily shift communication transition prior to the start of the shift
