Job summary

Austin Powder Company is seeking a driven transporter-equipment operator to join our field teams. The role involves driving, lifting, and performing outdoor physical tasks at customer sites to support bulk product production and blasting operations.

You will manage logs, verify loads, and operate MMUs and bulk equipment with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and compliance with explosive-handling regulations. Start times vary based on site needs.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class-A CDL license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift 50lb regularly.
  • Proficiency in reading gauges, safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Accurate record-keeping of daily operations, product usage, and safety checks.
  • Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting field issues.
  • Haz-MAT, tanker, and air-brake endorsements are highly preferred.
  • Qualification as an ATF explosive possessor and compliance with all State and Federal explosive laws.
  • Ability to operate manual transmissions and work non-traditional hours, often starting very early.
  • High attention to detail for accurate inventory record-keeping and mathematical proficiency in all units of measure.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to read and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
  • Capacity to identify products by sight.

  • Maintains driving and delivery logs, confirms load contents, tracks and reports working hours, and completes pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections.
  • Operates mobile manufacturing equipment, including Austin Powder bulk equipment, to create consistent quality products and enhance customer experience.
  • Opens and closes equipment safely, follows fall protection requirements for overhead bin loading, and performs safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Completes any additional duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Location Manager for daily operations and, when on‑site at a customer’s location, takes instructions from the Blaster‑In‑Charge.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying approximately 50lb., and performing various hands‑on physical tasks using material handling equipment, safety equipment, and hand tools.
