Job summary

Atlantic Fence Supply is hiring a Class A CDL Driver to service customers in Ashland, VA, with occasional trips to MD or West Virginia. Schedule is Mon-Fri 7:30 AM–4 PM. Pay range is $25–$27 per hour. Expect local deliveries, inspections, load securement, and possible yard work when not on the road.

Requirements include 3 years of Class A CDL, ability to drive a manual transmission, and a clean driving record with strong safety awareness. OT may be required.

Qualifications

• 3 years of Class A CDL driving experience.
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
• Experience with a Moffett/piggyback is preferred or trainable.
• 12 months of experience operating a flatbed truck.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and safe driving procedures.
• Experience with strapping/securement.
• Registered with FMCSA clearinghouse.
• Knowledge of Electronic Logging requirements, GPS systems, and maps.
• Clean driving record and safety-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Deliver to businesses and residences, navigating tight areas and varying traffic.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle records.
• Ensure proper load securement and paperwork handling.
• Operate truck cab computers/tablets, CB radios, and GPS gear to communicate with bases.
• Assist with warehouse and yard duties when not on runs.
• Overtime as required and comply with safety procedures.

Position Summary:

Atlantic Fence Supply is searching for a dedicated Class A CDL Driver to make runs to our customers in Ashland, Virginia. Some travel out of state to MD OR West Virginia.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30 AM - 4PM

Pay Range: $25-$27

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for safe operations of a commercial motor vehicle.
• Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver’s record of duty status, mileage records, and other records required by law.
• Travel to local areas making deliveries to businesses and residences applying knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather. This includes going forward and backing up long distances, around corners, and in and around tight areas. May travel long distances.
• Perform Pre and Post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order and maintain logs of vehicle services and repair status.
• Follow company reporting procedures for any injuries, vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Follow appropriate company safety procedures and wear all required PPE.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Responsible for proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to the truck operation and freight movements.
• Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers/tablets, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
• Responsible for performing proper load securement of cargo and maintaining safe load securement throughout trips.
• In addition to driving responsibilities, the driver may also assist with warehouse and yard duties, on days there are no runs.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.

Requirements

• 3 year of Class A CDL driving experience
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle
• Experience with a Moffett/piggyback preferred - can be trained if forklift experience
• 12 months of experience operating a flatbed truck
• Knowledge of construction equipment and safe driving procedures
• Experience with strapping/securement
• Registered with FMCSA clearinghouse
• Knowledge of Electronic Logging requirements, GPS systems, and ability to read maps
• Clean driving record and diligent attention to safety
