Job summary

JC Pallet is seeking a dependable Class A CDL Driver to handle local/regional deliveries in the Barhamsville, VA area. You will operate Class A vehicles, perform inspections, and ensure safe handling of cargo while delivering professional customer service.

The role emphasizes on-time performance, accurate documentation, and communication with dispatch. It requires adherence to DOT rules, safe driving habits, and the ability to work extended hours if needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of local/regional driving experience.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and vehicle inspection protocols.
  • Experience using GPS navigation and maintaining delivery documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Class A vehicles in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues.
  • Load, unload and secure cargo safely.
  • Plan routes and navigate to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Keep logs for mileage, receipts, fuel and tolls; comply with hours-of-service.

Job description

JC Pallet has an immediate opening for a dependable and skilled Class A CDL Driver to handle safe, timely deliveries within our regional/local service area. The ideal candidate will transport goods using the appropriate vehicle class, maintain high standards of safety compliance, and deliver excellent customer service, at their Barhamsville, VA location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain Class A vehicles in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking brakes, tires, lights, and safety features, and promptly report issues.
  • Safely load, unload, and secure cargo to prevent damage during transport.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes, navigate traffic, and adhere to schedules using GPS or mapping tools.
  • Maintain accurate logs of mileage, delivery receipts, fuel and toll expenses, and adhere to hours-of-service rules.
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., fluid checks, refueling, cleaning) to ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, management, and customers—report delays, incidents, or delivery issues.
  • Provide professional assistance during deliveries and uphold a positive company image.
  • Ensure correct paperwork, including bills of lading and proof-of-delivery, is completed and submitted.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience transporting goods in local or regional routes
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection protocols.
  • Competency with GPS navigation, record-keeping, and managing delivery documentation.
  • Physical stamina to load/unload cargo and work extended hours if needed.
  • Excellent time-management, organization, attention to detail, and safe driving habits.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to deliver high-quality customer service.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating Class A vehicles in local or regional routes.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, vehicle inspection protocols, and safe cargo handling.
  • Experience using GPS navigation systems and maintaining accurate delivery
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with drivers, customers, vendors, and employees.
  • REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
