Job description

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Class A CDL Driver will drive a tractor-trailer combination with step-deck trailers moving job trailers between jobsites, hauling equipment to jobsites, and occasionally hauling some materials to work-sites in a 25-state area. Overnight travel is required with some weekend travel. Very frequent home time, averaging 3 nights out at a time.

Essential Functions:

• Follow appropriate safety & load securement procedures when transporting material.
• Perform vehicle inspections before driving them to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maintain electronic logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status while following applicable state and federal regulations.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to supervisor.
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs of truck, trailers and other equipment.
• Load and unload step-deck trailers with forklifts and overhead lifts.
• Collaborate with other drivers as part of a driving team on some trips.
• Pick-up and delivery of parts in town.
• Coordinate project material and equipment on campus.

• One or more-year(s) experience as a class A CDL driver
• Prior construction material delivery experience preferred.
• Valid Class A nonrestricted CDL required with optional Tanker Endorsement.
• Able to work in unfavorable weather conditions; both heat and cold.

Work Environment:

• Prolonged periods sitting in a tractor cab.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to travel frequently.
