Job summary

Bowhead Specialty, partnering with American Family, seeks an experienced Assistant Claims Support Manager to support the daily operations of our Claims Support team in Chicago. This role collaborates closely with the Claims Support Manager to ensure efficient claims administration, accurate payment processing, and reporting accuracy.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in insurance claims support, prior leadership preferred, and strong skills in Guidewire and Excel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of insurance claims support, claims operations, or related experience.
• Prior leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
• Knowledge of claims administration, compliance requirements, and payment processes.
• Experience with Guidewire or similar claims management systems is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in leading, training, and mentoring the Claims Support team while promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Support oversight of claims intake, setup, documentation, and assignment processes to ensure accuracy and timely handling.
• Monitor workflows, service levels, and operational performance to drive efficiency and quality outcomes.
• Conduct quality reviews and compliance audits, including OFAC verification and claims documentation oversight.
• Manage claims-related payment activities, vendor setup, deductible tracking, and payment collaborate with Claims, Legal, Compliance, Audit, Actuarial, and Operations teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Assist with monthly reporting, performance metrics, and audit preparation.
• Support system enhancements, process documentation, and staff training initiatives, including Guidewire and other claims management platforms.
