The Claims Team Lead oversees the daily operations of a claims unit, ensuring timely and accurate processing of claims in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for managing team performance, providing guidance, and resolving escalated claims issues while driving process improvements and maintaining customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and manage the daily workflow of the claims team to ensure goals and service standards are met.
- Review and approve complex or high-value claims, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide coaching, training, and regular feedback to claims representatives to enhance skills and performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators and report on team productivity, accuracy, and timelines.
- Serve as escalation point for claims disputes or customer concerns, resolving issues promptly.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize claims processes and improve customer experience.
- Identify areas for process improvement and recommend or implement efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure documentation and record-keeping meet compliance and audit requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- 5 or more years of claims experience within the insurance industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of claims processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS
- Adjuster license required based on state regulations.
- Industry certifications such as AIC (Associate in Claims) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) are preferred.
