Job summary

Admiral Insurance Group, part of W. R. Berkley Corporation, is seeking a Claims Superintendent for Professional Liability in the Chicago area.

You will oversee high-exposure liability claims for an Excess & Surplus carrier, coordinating with defense counsel and internal stakeholders to drive favorable outcomes. The role requires at least 7 years in commercial claims, focus on professional liability, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred (or equivalent work experience).
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive commercial insurance claims handling experience.
• Focus on Professional Liability lines of business.
• Ability to assess priorities and manage deadlines effectively.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Up to 20% travel.

Responsibilities

• Present facts of claims, with recommendations, to committee on Professional Liability claims.
• Incorporate all claims into company records and review for applicability of coverage.
• Prepare large loss reports.
• Attend and participate in mediations/trials as necessary.
• Establish appropriate loss and expense reserves.
• Supervise Independent Adjusters, investigators and defense attorneys to ensure proper handling.
• Adhere to procedures and Best Practice guidelines on coverage, payment, or denial of claims.
• Comply with reporting requirements of reinsurers.
• Maintain knowledge of unfair claim practices statutes.
• Attend broker relations calls/visits as needed.
• Attend industry seminars/workshops for continuing education.
• Additional tasks as assigned.
