Job description

Claims Service Representative I - Total Salvage

You will support the Auto Claims Operation by providing service pursuant to the policy by handling claims of material damage, property and/or liability lines of insurance written by the Interinsurance Exchange in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. The primary functions include investigation, evaluation, and negotiation of lower complexity claims in accordance with established company technical and customer service best practices.

Responsibilities include the following:
  1. Communicate and interact with a variety of individuals including insureds and claimants.
  2. Explain benefits, coverages, fault, and claims process verbally or in writing, complying with regulatory and statutory requirements.
  3. Conduct phone and/or field investigations to determine liability and damages. Obtain statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
  4. Evaluate and determine claim values upon receipt and assessment of property, medical, and liability data.
  5. Negotiate within settlement authority with insureds and claimants to resolve claims.
  6. Handle administrative functions, update database reports, and document claim files via company systems (e.g., CACS, HUON, HOC).
  7. Verify and interpret/resolve coverage by gathering necessary information to ensure policy applicability.
  8. Coordinate with internal and external departments as required.
  9. Identify cross-sell opportunities based on members’ product needs and service requests.
  10. Enhance member relationships by promoting use of products and services and providing leads to relevant departments.
Education/Experience:
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior claims handling experience required, typically 6 months to 3 years.
  • Moderate computer literacy required.
  • General understanding of negligence preferred.
  • Strong organization and planning skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
