Job description

San Antonio, TX (Kirby Area)| Full-Time | On-Site

Job Summary

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, digging into the details, and figuring things out in situations where you have to think on your feet, weigh different factors, and make sound judgment calls.

We are looking for an experienced Claims & Risk Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day coordination of claims across our construction operations. This is not a repetitive, behind-the-scenes claims processing position. You'll work across departments and directly with insurance adjusters, attorneys, employees, vendors, and members of the public to investigate issues, gather the facts, coordinate next steps, and keep claims moving toward resolution.

No two days are exactly alike. You may be investigating a vehicle or property damage claim one day, coordinating a workers' compensation matter the next, and responding to an urgent request from an adjuster, attorney, or operations leader in between.

You'll have the opportunity to manage your responsibilities with a meaningful level of independence while working alongside Safety, Operations, Accounting, and company leadership. We're looking for someone who can think critically, exercise good judgment, communicate confidently, and take initiative without needing every next step mapped out for them.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate workers' compensation, commercial auto, general liability, property, subcontractor, OSHA, and DOT-related claims.
  • Manage claim activity from initial notification through resolution, including documentation, follow-up, deadlines, and communication.
  • Communicate directly with employees, supervisors, claimants, property owners, motorists, adjusters, attorneys, vendors, and other external parties.
  • Gather facts and documentation, coordinate investigations, and ensure appropriate parties have the information needed to move claims forward.
  • Work closely with insurance carriers and adjusters on insured claims and assist with matters the company handles directly.
  • Maintain accurate and complete claim files in Aclaimant and company document-management systems.
  • Coordinate claim-related payments and documentation with Accounting.
  • Assist with claim reporting, financial tracking, insurance audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support litigation matters by gathering and organizing documentation and coordinating with legal counsel as needed.
  • Work closely with Safety and Operations to communicate claim information and support follow-up on incidents and corrective actions.
  • Handle confidential employee, medical, legal, and claim information appropriately.
What We're Looking For
Required
  • 3+ years of experience in claims, insurance, risk management, workers' compensation, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating or handling liability, commercial auto, property, or workers' compensation claims.
  • Experience communicating directly with claimants and other external parties regarding active claims.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple active matters, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and occasionally within Texas for claim-related matters.
  • Ability to work on-site in our San Antonio office during standard business hours.
Preferred
  • Construction, transportation, commercial fleet, or similar industry experience.
  • Experience working directly with insurance carriers, adjusters, and legal counsel.
  • Experience with Aclaimant or another claims-management system.
  • Litigation or complex-claim experience.
  • AIC, ARM, CPCU, Texas Adjuster License, or another relevant claims/risk designation. Relevant experience is valued over certifications.
Who Will Thrive in This Role

This position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys having ownership of their responsibilities and solving problems rather than simply following a checklist. You'll need to be comfortable shifting gears when priorities change, working through situations where all the answers aren't immediately available, and communicating with people who may not always agree with you.

At the same time, claims work requires accuracy. Details, documentation, deadlines, and follow-through matter. The right person can move quickly without losing control of the details.

If you enjoy investigating issues, making sense of complicated situations, working with a wide variety of people, and seeing matters through to resolution, we'd like to hear from you.
