Job summary

Apache Industrial Services in Houston is seeking a claims professional to coordinate and manage all claims‑related activities across workers' compensation, general liability, auto and property lines. You will work with risk management, safety, legal and operations to investigate, report to carriers, and oversee adjusters while controlling costs.

A bachelor’s degree in risk management or related field and relevant certifications are preferred; 3+ years of claims experience in industrial services

Job description

Position Summary

Non‑supervisory role supporting mitigation of the organization’s exposure to risk by formulating, developing, and coordinating all claims‑related activities, and by resolving bona fide claims promptly and within the cost parameters authorized by management. Implements programs to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims, gathers claims data for record‑keeping and loss forecasting purposes, and estimates the financial value of open claims. Provides oversight of carrier and TPA adjusters, applying loss‑reduction techniques such as salvage, subrogation, and rehabilitation.

Essential Functions
  • Workers Compensation: Coordinates with the Director of Risk Management, Safety, Legal, Human Resources, and Operations to assess and administer worker’s compensation claims, including adjusters, treatment plans, investigation, return to work, and other resolutions. Reports claims timely to the insurance carrier with copy to broker.
  • General Liability: Works with Safety and Operations to investigate and prepare files on claims, reports claims timely to the insurance carrier with copy to broker, and manages and coordinates adjusters in consultation with the Director of Risk Management/Legal.
  • Automobile and Property: Assesses and administers the organization’s auto collision and property damage claims, coordinates with Safety, Fleet, and Operations to identify and investigate claims, reports claims timely to the insurance carrier with copy to broker, and assists in guiding the adjustment process. Tracks all open claims by coverage and jurisdiction, provides regular updates on claims’ development and cost, and performs additional claims activities (e.g., bill coding and payment processing) as assigned.
  • Broker and Carrier Activities: Timely reports of claims and preserves the rights of the company under the insurance terms; manages the COI process; oversees OCIP and CCIP insurance processes; supports renewal by gathering and reporting incurred claims data for each line of insurance; coordinates with the broker to ensure the carrier maintains an acceptable financial rating required by the company; assists Director of Risk Management and the Legal Department with claim documentation, complex claims, renewal submissions, invoice processing, and further risk‑management activities as requested.
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field, with certification in AIC‑M, CCP, ARM, CRIS, or CPCU. A minimum of three (3) years managing claims under the described coverage lines, preferably in the industrial services or construction industry across multiple jurisdictions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to review and understand key coverage terms and claims provisions of insurance policies.
  • Effective collaboration with other company departments.
  • Understanding of the financial implications of the claim‑adjusting process to protect company interests.
  • Time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, Adobe/PDF).
Work Conditions / Physical Demands

Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds. No adverse environmental conditions expected. The company supports continuing risk‑management education.
