Job summary

Group 1001 Insurance is seeking a Claims Processing Team Lead to guide a busy claims operation, overseeing intake, review, validation, decisions, and payouts while ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

You will monitor volumes, staff workloads, and performance metrics, provide training, develop SOPs, and support regulatory compliance, including prompt-payment rules and tax reporting. You will collaborate with management and service partners to deliver exceptional beneficiary service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of claims processing, operations, or customer service experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Subject matter expertise with annuities and/or financial services products.
• Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including handling sensitive conversations with compassion.
• Attention to detail and curiosity about how things work.
• Preferred: experience with death claims or beneficiary payouts.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for claims, such as state prompt-payment laws, tax reporting, and unclaimed property.
• Prior team or workflow management experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert for all claims processing tasks and responsibilities.
• Lead or assist with claims workflow management.
• Monitor incoming claim volumes, inventory, aging, and trends, and coordinate resources.
• Oversee the claims process from intake to payout, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including prompt-payment rules and tax reporting.
• Monitor performance metrics and coach the team to improve efficiency and service levels.
• Develop SOPs and job aids; provide ongoing training and knowledge sharing.
• Resolve escalated or sensitive claims with empathy and professionalism.
• Collaborate with other departments to support decision-making and service delivery.
