Iowa Title Guaranty plays a key role in this mission by offering affordable title guaranties that support mortgage lending and protect Iowa’s land-title system. About this Opportunity:

As ourClaims Attorney, you’ll provide legal counsel on title claims involving all aspects of real estate and insurance law, including challenges to title, transaction disputes, foreclosure matters, and contract actions to determine liability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of title claims—from intake and investigation to legal analysis, resolution, and recoupment—under Iowa Title Guaranty Certificates.
  • Draft and review legal documentssuch as affidavits, settlement agreements, and releases to support claim resolution and ensure legal compliance.
  • Represent Iowa Title Guarantyin court proceedings, including preparing filings, attending hearings, and participating in mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Oversee external legal counseland coordinate with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, managing litigation strategy, reviewing legal documents, and monitoring case progress, as necessary.
  • Pursue recovery actions and policy improvementsby evaluating subrogation opportunities, initiating litigation when appropriate, and refining claims procedures and documentation.
  • Lead policy development, legal guidance, and compliance oversight for underwriting, claims, audits, and operations within ITG ensuring alignment with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to mitigate risk and enhance ITG’s effectiveness.

The Claims Attorney position is a non-merit, contract-covered position that is classified by the State of Iowa as an Attorney 2. This position is exempt per FLSA regulations.
