Job summary

Fortegra, a leading specialty insurer, is seeking a General Liability Claims Adjuster in New Jersey to join our claims team. You will investigate, evaluate, and resolve general liability claims under supervision, delivering fair and timely outcomes for all parties involved.

This full-time role requires a bachelor's degree, 1–3 years in general liability, and active adjuster licenses. You will manage claims, disputes, and vendor relationships, conduct analyses, and ensure regulatory dispositions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of relevant General Liability claims experience.
• Licenses as required by state for adjusters.

Responsibilities

• Direct management of general liability claims across jurisdictions.
• Direct management of coverage disputes.
• Formulating claims strategies and managing outside vendors.
• Investigating assigned claims to complete coverage, liability, and damages analysis.
• Ensuring timely disposition of all claims per regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a diary system to efficiently resolve all claims.
• Make recommendations on coverage, settlement positions, and file reserves.
• Build relationships with reinsurers, underwriters, brokers, attorneys and vendors.
• Participate in claim reviews and audits.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Job description

This full-time position will report to the Manager, Specialty Claims. We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused General Liability Claims Adjuster to join our claims team. In this role, you will investigate, evaluate, and resolve general liability claims under close supervision, while delivering fair and timely outcomes for all parties involved.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
• Minimum 1-3 years of relevant and progressive experience in General Liability claims.
• Adjuster licenses, as mandated by specific states, are required.

Primary Job Functions:

• Direct management of general liability claims across all jurisdictions.
• Direct management of coverage disputes.
• Formulating claims strategies, assigning, directing, and managing outside vendors where appropriate.
• Promptly investigating all assigned claims to complete coverage, liability, and damages analysis.
• Ensures timely disposition of all claims in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Maintain and manage a diary system to efficiently and effectively resolve all claims.
• Make recommendations to management pertaining to coverage, settlement positions and file reserves based on well supported reports.
• Build and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Reinsurers, Underwriters, Actuarial, Brokers, Attorneys, Vendors, etc.).
• Participate in Claim Reviews and claim audits.
• Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.
