Job summary

Fortegra in Jacksonville is seeking a Claims Assistant Manager, Property to lead and optimize the Claims Operations for Commercial Property, Lender Placed, or other specialty products. You will guide staff, enforce procedures, and ensure performance aligns with company goals.

The role collaborates with Compliance, SIU, and IT to implement changes, drive production, EBITDA, and revenue growth, and adhere to the Fortegra Way. Strong leadership and regulatory knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree and/or CPCU preferred.
  • 5 to 8 years of professional experience in claims field with demonstrated increased responsibility.
  • 1 to 3 years of management and supervision of claims teams.
  • Adjuster Licensing as required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the activities of the Claims Administration area by managing, overseeing, supervising, analyzing and coordinating associates and functions to meet set standards.
  • Plan, recommend, and promote policies that will support the company and department objectives.
  • Manage communication and coordination of service between units, associates, insureds, agents, policyholders, and departments.
  • Evaluate and monitor work flow by communicating effectively with Managers and associates of all levels in order to analyze needs and identify problem areas.
  • Monitor and develop associates to their highest potential.
  • Investigate and pursue the use of technology, research, analyze, document and communicate problems with system data and/or data entry process.
  • Manage the development and updating of new and existing programs to streamline and implement new strategies for claims adjudication utilizing industry best practices.
  • Document procedures and assign tasks to department, supervisor or associates.
  • Maintain an understanding of related state and federal laws, state rates, state and company limits, state and company underwriting guidelines and claims production standards.
  • Improve efficiencies; suggest changes in procedures and report trends and problems.
  • Develop and maintain Desk Manual documentation and Disaster Recovery documentation.
  • Serve as disaster recovery team captain for Claims Department.
  • Collaborate with legal on DOI complaints.
  • Complete annual performance reviews; provide recommendation for increase in salary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Claims Assistant Manager, Property is responsible for overseeing and directing the Claims Operations that may include Commercial Property, Lender Placed, or other Specialty products. This role develops and maintains procedures and guidelines that effectively and efficiently accomplish the predetermined objectives of the Company and the Claims area. Reviewing, directing, monitoring, mentoring and taking action on issues as they relate to skills, knowledge, training, and development of associates, guiding them through career and company goals is important in this position.

The successful Claims Assistant Manager, Property will interact with Compliance area on new regulations, SIU on fraud investigations and IT for change and development as they relate to the area, while driving the team to meet Fortegra goals on production, EBITDA and revenue growth by following the Fortegra Way.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree and or CPCU preferred.
