Responsibilities

General Description

This position will be accountable to Skyward for handling automobile claims on behalf of Skyward, its policyholders and insureds. The role is responsible for ensuring that the segment of claims under his/her purview are managed in accordance with Skyward claim handling requirements and standards, all applicable state and regulatory requirements, and meet or exceed Skyward’s expectations in the quality of the overall claim outcomes achieved.

Essential Responsibilities

The Property Damage Claims Adjuster will handle commercial auto and trucking claims, including coverage analysis, investigation, settlements and subrogation.

• Handle claims, including coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation of liability, settlements & subrogation for our specialty lines of businesses
• Ensures all open claims are effectively brought to resolution at the best possible outcome at the earliest opportunity
• Work closely with our rapid response vendors in bring claims to a quick resolution
• Reserve claim files early & accurately, with goal of minimizing adverse development
• Identifies and evaluates additional opportunities to further reduce the severity and cost of claims
• Conducts analysis relating to understand the activity and ‘behavior’ of the claim population(s) under management and reports as required
• Maximize Recovery by identifying and managing subrogation, salvage & deductible protocol and actions
• Accurately capture claims coding for ISO, Reinsurance and Loss Control purposes
• Comply with State Guidelines for Good Faith Claims Handling
• Prepare Large Loss Reports & Trial Alerts for Claims Management and Reinsurance
• Other duties as may be required due to change, growth and continuous improvement

Qualifications

In depth technical knowledge of heavy equipment transportation and auto liability claims and experience in managing such claims subject to the regulations and requirements set forth by the state authorities governing such matters in each state where the claim is domiciled.

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Licenses: current adjusting license, strongly preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience to include direct handling of Heavy Equipment Transportation and Auto Liability claimsor equivalent work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrate high level of understanding of individual state and civil laws, claims practices and regulatory requirements
• Utilize specialized computer software applications. Document case histories, reports and letters
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent influencing and negotiation skills; ability to collaborate and build relationships across teams stakeholders and providers

Compensation & Benefits

The applicable base salary for this opportunity is $65000 - $80000. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this opportunity may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
