Location: MTS Warehouse

Hours: 8 Hours per Day, 260 Days per Year


JOB DESCRIPTION

The Warehouse Laborer is a crossover position that will be utilized in the Print Shop, Mail Room, Deposit Run and Warehouse. The position will work dayshift as needed to cover for absent staff or as additional manpower.

The intent is to create an entry level position for the purpose of flexibility to assign labor as/where needed, and to determine the aptitude of the employee for future placement opportunities within the Department.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Successful completion of training or certification programs related to position. Thiscould include, but is not limited to, one of the following: High School Diploma, GED, AA, BA, etc. A transcript must be provided within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Must pass a basic skills test.
  • Employment history in similar position(s).
  • References indicating satisfactory skills and abilities in similar position.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position as indicated by taking and passing a physicalcapacity exam after job offer and before employment begins.
  • Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. (Must provide driving abstract.)

  • QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Willingness to comply with district board policies and established programs.
  • Evidence of ability to be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
  • Show a history of dependability and punctuality, along with positive evaluations and recommendations.
  • Prior Print Production experience that includes operation of production quality copy machines, duplicators, folders and cutting equipment.
  • Evidence of ability to operate computers and a Computerized software, such as WebCRD, QTrax, School Dude and other district used programs.
  • Forklift certification with history of practical warehouse and delivery experience in a full-service distribution environment.
  • Evidence of ability to organize and prioritize in order to meet the district’s needs and deadlines.
  • Evidence of ability to determine the scope of work, materials needed, and make cost estimates.
  • Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative, and effective relationship with fellow employees, shop lead persons, district staff, and administrators.
  • Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to problem solve.
  • Demonstrated skills in mathematics and reading.
  • Able to organize and prioritize in order to meet district needs and deadlines.
  • Able to keep accurate records.
  • JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as general labor in support of the Print Shop, Mail Room, Deposit Route and Warehouse as directed.
  • Work closely with, and communicate with, co-workers, Lead persons, Coordinators, Purchasing Manager.
  • Perform work as directed to the best of your abilities.
  • Have a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work all shifts as assigned.
  • Report problem areas and safety hazards in or on school facilities.
  • Provide assistance to and/or coordinate with other employees in order to accomplish the highest possible quality and quantity of work in the least amount of time, without causing undue hardship for other workers.
  • Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a calendar-based preventative maintenance system.
  • Enter time and materials into electronic work order system.
  • Generate work orders for preventative maintenance and other needed work.
  • Perform other related jobs and duties as assigned.

    • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, product labels, and procedures. Ability to write effectively and use e-mail correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal numbers. Ability to calculate percentages, discounts, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
