Job summary

Calaveras County Sheriff's Office seeks civilians for POST PelletB Testing and temporary trainee work. The position supports attendance at an approved POST-certified police academy and related duties while pursuing a career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.

Candidates will train under academy staff supervision, learn law enforcement tasks, and may transition to Deputy Sheriff I upon successful program completion. This civilian role is a training/temporary assignment.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Learn under academy supervision all aspects of law enforcement work.
• Perform patrol, answer calls for protection of life and property, and conduct preliminary investigations.
• Interrogate witnesses, gather evidence, take statements, and support investigations.
• Make arrests and perform jailer and bailiff duties as needed.
• Direct traffic, serve warrants and civil papers, and assist with related duties.
