Office of the Sheriff in California seeks candidates for Deputy Sheriff Recruit. No prior law enforcement experience required; recruits attend a POST-approved academy for 26 weeks of training, then graduate, sworn in as Peace Officers and promoted to Deputy Sheriff.

The department operates detention facilities, patrols county-wide, and offers many specialized assignments including J-Team, K-9, SWAT, and more. Eligible candidates may remain on the list for twelve months.

Formación

• License required: California Motor Vehicle Operators License; out-of-state licenses accepted during application.
• Education: US high school diploma, GED or equivalent; or at least two-year, four-year or advanced degree from an accredited institution.
• Citizenship: US citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
• Age: must be 21 years old at appointment.
• Physical: able to meet health standards prescribed by County Medical Consultant.
• Vision: 20/20 uncorrected, 20/30 corrected.
• Hearing: no more than 25 dB loss in key frequencies.
• Background: thorough background, polygraph, medical and psychological exams.
