Qualifications

Operating within the Criminal Investigations Division, this professional staff position focuses on criminal records integrity, disposition reconciliation, and state/national compliance reporting.The successful candidate will take ownership of the department’s Final Disposition Reporting (FDR) workflow, cross-referencing court records against arrest reports to systematically eliminate open disposition backlogs. The investigator serves as a crucial inter-agency liaison between the Peoria Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), municipal and county courts, and prosecutorial agencies to ensure the accurate, timely sharing of criminal history records.Position Dynamics & ScheduleThe Police Civilian Investigator is a full-time, professional staff position within the Criminal Investigations Division, Case Management Unit.Schedule: Operates on a stable, compressed workweek consisting of four ten-hour shifts.Benefits: This is a fully benefited position offering comprehensive municipal employee coverage.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvanced Case Research: Utilize complex local, state, and federal law enforcement databases to conduct comprehensive criminal records research.Records Optimization & Backlog Reduction: Evaluate police reports against court outcomes (convictions, dismissals, or turn-downs), complete required correction forms, and submit them to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) to systematically reduce the department's open disposition backlog.Inter-Agency Coordination: Partner and coordinate seamlessly with external judicial stakeholders, municipal courts, and juvenile agencies to secure necessary case input and facilitate the secure sharing of criminal history records.Operational Excellence: Maintain precise electronic case history logs, scan and attach disposition reports into the internal police database, update case activity notes, and perform additional duties as assigned to support unit continuity.QualificationsExceptional Technical Precision: Strong administrative accuracy and acute attention to detail required for data entry, case management, and digital evidence tracking.Strategic Communication: Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse external legal agencies, court staff, and internal department members.System Familiarity: Prior experience or familiarity navigating complex law enforcement databases (such as AZDPS), legal compliance mandates, and judicial/prosecutorial workflows.The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in criminal investigations and a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
