Job summary

The Wyoming Highway Patrol is seeking a Civilian Investigator in Cheyenne, Wyoming to conduct background and administrative investigations for the Patrol.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (typically in Criminal Justice).
• Experience: 0-3 years in Investigation.
• FLSA: Non-Exempt (note tie to job posting).

Responsibilities

• Conducts background investigations on sworn and non-sworn public safety applicants.
• Reviews completed background interview forms for consistency and completeness.
• Obtains and reviews records from FBI, DOJ, state and municipal agencies.
• Reviews arrest reports, statements, and other documents to evaluate compliance with policies.
• Interviews employers, coworkers, and references, assessing credibility.
• Prepares detailed interview statements and final background investigation package.
• Travels as required (in-state/out-of-state).
• Performs policy research and development; performs other duties as assigned.
