Civil Technician – Telecom Power & Equipment Installations
Location: Based in Idaho or Open to Relocation – Travel Required
Job Type: Full-time (Project duration: 2 years)
Reports To: Project Manager / Construction Manager
Vehicle Allowance: $40/day on workdays, plus reimbursement for tolls, parking, and fuel
Per Diem: $140/day
Job Overview:
Join a two-year high-impact telecom infrastructure project. We're hiring a Civil Technician with construction and telecom experience for critical upgrades, including DC power plant conversions and cabinet installations. Candidates should be based in Idaho or open to relocating for project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead installations of outdoor cabinet hardware (Raycap, FLX21, and similar)
Execute trenching, conduit runs, and full site prep
Perform DC circuit cut-overs during 48V to 58V power plant conversions using OEM-specific kits
Install, upgrade, and integrate FLX cabinets and upconverters, including breaker relocation and DC sub-panel work
Conduct Nokia BBU to Ericsson BBU swaps
Install and test additional equipment including:
DC power systems (battery-only and full plant installs)
DC-DC converters
Rectifiers and fuse panels
Cable management trays and grounding systems
Maintain compliance with safety, local codes, and technical standards
Report project milestones, site issues, and delays in real-time
Required Qualifications:
3+ years in telecom infrastructure or civil construction
Deep experience with DC power systems and telecom cabinet installations
Hands-on work with Raycap/FLX cabinets, BBU conversions (Nokia to Ericsson)
Skilled at reading and interpreting schematics and construction drawings
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
Valid driver’s license; open to travel and relocation
Skills:
OSHA 10, CPR/AED, RF safety, and bloodborne pathogen certifications
Familiarity with Nokia/Ericsson hardware and telecom power plant standards
Industry-recognized install certifications
Proven problem-solving and diagnostic skills
Physical Demands:
Lift up to 50 lbs
Work in outdoor conditions, confined spaces, and at height
Willingness to travel regularly for field assignments
