Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Structural Engineer to support FAA facility modernization under the NISC IV program in Des Plaines, IL. You will plan, design, and coordinate complex civil/structural projects, preparing drawings, specs, and cost estimates with independence and stakeholder collaboration.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering credentials, 3+ years in foundation design, and strong CAD skills. US citizenship or GC with 3-year US residency is required, and FAA Public Trust is needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a Civil or Structural Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college/university.
• Minimum 3 years of foundation design experience with steel/concrete structures in commercial, industrial, or government facilities.
• Knowledge of building structural codes for design calculations and assessments.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, scheduling tools, and internet-based communication.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage electronic project folders and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Must obtain FAA Public Trust and be a US Citizen or Green Card holder resident in the US for the past 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site surveys to develop to-scale designs and detailed reports.
• Create sketches showing installation relationships with precise specs and dimensions.
• Participate in construction inspections and final reviews.
• Coordinate design components with multidisciplinary teams for site modifications and new construction.
• Prepare AutoCAD construction drawings, site-specific specs, contract documents, and cost estimates.
• Lead project management tasks including safety plans, work sequencing, and cutover plans.
• Develop Integrated Risk Management Checklists and project risk registers to satisfy ORM requirements.
