Job description

Job Description

We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our forensic consulting team in the Greater Nashville/Knoxville area. This role involves working primarily from home with occasional field investigations (30‑40% of the time), requiring 25‑30%+ travel.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Investigate the origins and causes of failures, damages or defects in civil/structural fields within residential, commercial and industrial sites.
  • Analyze building system failures, evaluate construction quality, and review design and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct field investigations, lead multi‑party examinations, and document damaged property.
  • Research failure modes and code requirements as needed, and prepare recommendations for repair or remediation.
  • Prepare reports and letters outlining the origins and causes of damages for clients.
  • Manage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on large, complex assignments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline (required).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT may be considered.
  • 5–7 years of experience in design within residential, commercial and industrial settings.
  • Field experience is a benefit.
  • Ability to travel 25‑30%+ and work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions.
  • Physical agility, balance and ability to work in high areas such as roofs or scaffolding.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing along strict timelines.
