Job Title

Civil/Structural Engineer – Greater Los Angeles Area

Overview

We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our forensic team in the Greater Los Angeles area. The role is primarily work‑from‑home when not conducting field investigations, which constitute 30–40% of the time. The Project Engineer will support delivering excellent project results and stellar client experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate the origin and cause of failures, damages, or defects in civil/structural fields within residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
• Analyze building system failures, determine causes, evaluate construction quality, and review design or maintenance procedures.
• Perform field investigations, lead multi‑party examinations, and document damaged property.
• Research failure modes and code requirements as needed, and prepare recommendations for repair and/or remediation.
• Prepare reports and letters outlining the origin and cause of damages for clients.
• Manage and collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline (required).
• PE is preferred; EIT may be considered.
• 5–7 years of design experience in residential, commercial, and industrial settings (preferred).
• Field experience is a benefit.
• 25–30%+ travel required.
• Ability to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions.
• Ability to work in high areas such as roofs or scaffolding, requiring physical agility, balance, and resistance to acrophobia.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing along strict timelines.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this position in California is $135,000 to $165,000 annually; base pay may vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience. A quarterly bonus is offered based on revenue and productivity, and a sign‑on bonus may be provided.
