Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Structural Engineer to lead ground-system designs for autonomous drone deployments and ensure site-level feasibility across diverse projects. You will integrate with mechanical, civil, and electrical teams while driving code-compliant foundations and scalable structures, from concept through permitting and build-out.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• PE license in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 3–8+ years in structural design.
• Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC standards.
• Experience with towers/vertical structures.
• Experience supporting permitting and approvals.
• Ability to work on non-standard or first-of-kind designs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication with cross-functional teams.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
• Travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis and design of charging towers and dropboxes.
• Develop designs that are code-compliant, constructible, cost-effective and scalable.
• Produce and review structural calculations, drawings and design documentation.
• Support permitting and regulatory approvals.
• Interface with AHJs, customers and external partners.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and real estate teams.
• Provide input on constructability and installation approaches.
• Maintain standard designs and design documentation.
• Advise on permits, codes and certifications relevant to projects.
• Engage with cities and inspectors to ensure timely approvals and deployment.
• Travel to project sites as needed.

Education

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

Professional Engineer (PE) license

3–8+ years in structural design
