Job summary

EnergySolutions in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support Major Project Group activities. The role focuses on analyses, design, and field support for lifting, rigging, and transportation of heavy loads within industrial and energy projects.

The candidate will develop calculations, technical specifications, and field support while ensuring compliance with codes and company procedures. Collaboration across disciplines and safety-focused design are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
• 5-8+ years of relevant engineering experience with independent project execution.
• Experience producing calculations and technical documents per industry codes and standards.
• Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary projects with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in industrial, energy, nuclear, construction, or heavy infrastructure projects preferred.
• PE registration is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering analyses, calculations, drawings, and reports for structural, rigging, transportation, and heavy load handling activities.
• Prepare and review procurement documents, work packages, and construction support documents.
• Ensure industry standards, codes, and company procedures are incorporated into engineering products.
• Support design and evaluation of temporary/permanent structures, lifting systems, and load transfer mechanisms.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, project teams, and vendors to support project execution.
• Participate in field walkdowns and constructability reviews to resolve technical issues.
• Evaluate existing structures and equipment for lifting/transportation suitability.
• Develop technical approaches, scopes of work, and cost-effective solutions for projects.
• Promote safety through design and risk reduction principles.
• Manage assigned tasks to meet schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Develop lift plans and heavy load handling analyses.
• Perform structural evaluations for lifting/rigging/transporting activities.
• Support transportation/load securing analyses for large equipment moves.
• Design temporary works like frames, fixtures, strongbacks, bracing, handling structures.
• Prepare scopes of work for vendor lifting/transportation equipment.
• Perform load path/interface analyses for buildings and equipment.
• Support field implementation through technical oversight and issue resolution.
• Contribute to development of engineering standards and best practices.
