Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of progressive civil/structural design experience focused on high-voltage substations (69 kV-500 kV).
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state with ability to obtain additional licenses via reciprocity.
• SE license candidates will be considered.
• Experience stamping deliverables and acting as Engineer of Record.
• Proficiency in ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC, IBC and IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead structural analysis and design of foundations (shallow & deep).
• Design steel structures (lattice towers, substations, bus supports) and concrete structures.
• Develop site grading, drainage, SWPPP, spill containment and erosion controls.
• Produce calculations, drawings, specifications and reports for PE stamping.
• Coordinate with electrical/geotechnical/SCADA teams to resolve conflicts.
• Review vendor/shop drawings, submittals and RFIs; provide field support.

Reports to: Vice President of Engineering

Overview

LND Technical Services (LNDTS) is seeking a skilled Civil Structural Engineer to support utility-scale power projects across the U.S., including substations, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy facilities. This role requires frequent travel and offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects in the power and utilities sector. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in civil/structural design, analysis, and field support, with experience applying industry codes and standards to deliver safe, cost-effective, and reliable solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support project execution from design through construction, and provide on-site technical guidance to ensure quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform and lead structural analysis and design of foundations (shallow & deep), steel structures (lattice towers, substations, bus supports), concrete structures and equipment support systems
• Develop site grading, drainage, stormwater management (SWPPP), spill containment and erosion & sediment control designs
• Produce high-quality calculations, drawings, specifications and reports suitable for PE stamping
• Ensure full compliance with the latest editions of ASCE 7, AISC 360/341, ACI 318, IBC, NESC, IEEE and applicable local amendments
• Serve as civil/structural lead or discipline engineer on substation, transmission and renewable projects from feasibility through construction closeout
• Coordinate closely with electrical, protection & control, geotechnical and SCADA teams to resolve inter-discipline conflicts early
• Support cost estimating, proposal development, basis-of-design narratives and project scheduling
• Review vendor/shop drawings, contractor submittals, and RFIs; provide timely field support and design clarifications
• Perform site walks, foundation surveys, construction inspections and as-built verification
• Troubleshoot field issues and issue field change documentation when required
• Enforce rigorous QA/QC processes on all civil/structural deliverables
• Drive compliance with federal (FERC, EPA), state and local permitting requirements
• Integrate constructibility, life-cycle cost and sustainability considerations into designs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred but not required)
• 5+ years of progressive civil/structural design experience focused on high-voltage substations (69 kV-500 kV), transmission lines or utility-scale renewables/BESS projects
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state with ability to obtain additional licenses via reciprocity
• Candidates with SE license or who are within 6 months of obtaining PE will also be considered
• Expert-level proficiency in two or more of the following
• STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, SAP2000, L-Pile, Enercalc, Mathcad, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation/OpenBuildings
• Comprehensive knowledge of ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC, IBC and IEEE standards
• Proven ability to stamp deliverables and act as Engineer of Record
• Excellent technical writing, communication and client-facing skills
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
