Job summary

NV5 is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with 4-7 years of experience to support civil site development projects in California. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD, with Civil 3D a strong plus; EIT is required and PE certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4-7 years of civil engineering experience with Civil Site, Roadway, or Subdivision Development projects.
• EIT certification is a must.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of basic civil engineering principles.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Exposure to local grading, drainage, and stormwater standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and preparation of civil site development plans, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility layouts
• Develop and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD; utilize Civil 3D for surfaces, alignments, and corridors where applicable
• Perform engineering calculations and quantity takeoffs
• Preparation of construction documents, technical reports, and permit submittals
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external agencies under the guidance of senior staff
• Conduct site visits, field observations, and assist with construction support tasks as needed
• Ensure work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
