Job summary

STV Incorporated is growing its transportation practice in Dallas, TX, seeking a Civil/Roadway Engineer to design roadway improvements and support projects from planning to construction.

The role requires 3–7 years of roadway/civil experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and an E.I.T or P.E. license. Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads/InRoads/GEOPAK is expected; AutoCAD a plus. Hybrid work option and strong team collaboration are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • E.I.T or PE license preferred.
  • 3-7 years of roadway/civil/transportation experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with roadway design software: MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads/GEOPAK; AutoCAD a plus.
  • Active involvement in industry or professional organizations encouraged.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design roadway and highway improvements, including geometrics, 3D models, drainage, signing and striping, erosion control, and utility coordination.
  • Support projects from planning through PS&E and construction.
  • Apply STV quality control/assurance to design plans.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and PMs to meet goals and schedules.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to building a strong design team.
  • Prepare quantities, estimates, and construction specs.
  • Provide construction-phase support and respond to contractor questions.
  • Lead or assist with project tracking for scope, schedule, and budget.

Job description

STV's transportation practice is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Civil/Roadway Engineer to join our Roadway Design Team in Dallas, TX, with the flexibility to also be based in our Frisco office. This is a great opportunity for a motivated engineer who wants to work on meaningful transportation infrastructure, collaborate with strong technical teams, and continue growing their career in a supportive, team-oriented environment. You'll contribute to projects that improve mobility, strengthen communities, and create lasting impact across Texas and beyond.**What You'll Do*** Design roadway and highway improvements, including highway geometrics, 3D models, drainage and stormwater management, signing and striping, erosion and sediment control, and utility coordination.* Support projects from planning and schematic design through PS&E and construction, applying sound engineering judgment, standards, and best practices.* Apply STV's quality control and quality assurance procedures to help deliver accurate, complete, and client-focused design plans.* Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to deliver roadway projects that meet client goals, schedules, and technical requirements.* Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineering staff while helping build a strong, collaborative design team.* Prepare plan quantities, engineering estimates, and construction specifications that support successful project delivery.* Provide construction-phase support, including plan reviews, responses to contractor questions, and coordination to help keep projects moving forward.* Assist with or lead project tracking for scope, schedule, and budget to support timely, high-quality delivery.* Participate in client meetings, proposal efforts, and business development activities as opportunities arise.**What You'll Bring*** Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.* Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) or a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.* 3-7 years of relevant roadway, civil, or transportation engineering experience.* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate design challenges and develop practical, effective solutions.* Experience with roadway design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads/GEOPAK; AutoCAD experience is a plus.* Interest in staying engaged with the industry through professional organizations, technical learning, or community involvement.* Clear communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and internal teams.* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative project environment.* Commitment to keeping current with roadway engineering standards, regulations, and best practices.At STV, you'll join a people-centered, infrastructure-focused firm where your work helps shape the communities we serve.
