Job summary

STV's transportation practice in Dallas, TX is seeking an experienced Civil/Roadway Engineer to join the Roadway Design Team with flexibility to base in Frisco. You will design roadway improvements, support from planning through PS&E and construction, and mentor junior staff while building a collaborative design team.

You will apply QC/QA procedures, coordinate with clients and internal teams, and help deliver accurate plans and specifications on time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• EIT or Professional Engineer license required or in progress.
• 3–7 years of roadway/civil/transportation experience.
• Proficient with roadway design software and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Design roadway improvements including geometrics, drainage, signing, and utilities coordination.
• Support projects from planning to PS&E and construction using best practices.
• Apply QC/QA procedures to produce accurate design plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and PMs to meet goals and schedules.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a strong design team.
• Prepare quantities, estimates, and construction specifications for delivery.
• Provide construction-phase support and respond to contractor questions.
• Assist with project tracking for scope, schedule, and budget.
• Participate in client meetings and business development opportunities.

STV's transportation practice is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Civil/Roadway Engineer to join our Roadway Design Team in Dallas, TX, with the flexibility to also be based in our Frisco office. This is a great opportunity for a motivated engineer who wants to work on meaningful transportation infrastructure, collaborate with strong technical teams, and continue growing their career in a supportive, team-oriented environment. You'll contribute to projects that improve mobility, strengthen communities, and create lasting impact across Texas and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Design roadway and highway improvements, including highway geometrics, 3D models, drainage and stormwater management, signing and striping, erosion and sediment control, and utility coordination.
• Support projects from planning and schematic design through PS&E and construction, applying sound engineering judgment, standards, and best practices.
• Apply STV's quality control and quality assurance procedures to help deliver accurate, complete, and client-focused design plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to deliver roadway projects that meet client goals, schedules, and technical requirements.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineering staff while helping build a strong, collaborative design team.
• Prepare plan quantities, engineering estimates, and construction specifications that support successful project delivery.
• Provide construction-phase support, including plan reviews, responses to contractor questions, and coordination to help keep projects moving forward.
• Assist with or lead project tracking for scope, schedule, and budget to support timely, high-quality delivery.
• Participate in client meetings, proposal efforts, and business development activities as opportunities arise.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) or a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• 3-7 years of relevant roadway, civil, or transportation engineering experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate design challenges and develop practical, effective solutions.
• Experience with roadway design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads/GEOPAK; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Interest in staying engaged with the industry through professional organizations, technical learning, or community involvement.
• Clear communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative project environment.
• Commitment to keeping current with roadway engineering standards, regulations, and best practices.
