Job summary

NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) seeks a Justice in Public Safety Project Counsel to advance legislative and policy reforms at local, state, and federal levels.

You will work with litigators, organizers, policy staff, and researchers to develop integrated strategies that reduce Black communities’ contact with law enforcement and promote community-based safety solutions. • Outstanding legal and policy research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated strategies.
• Develop and implement legislative and policy reform strategies at local, state, and/or federal levels.
• Conduct legal and factual research concerning priorities such as public safety and policing reforms.
• Develop and maintain coalitions and partnerships to advance community safety with a racial justice lens.
• Lead drafting, publication, and dissemination of public testimony, research, and issue briefs.
