Job summary

City of Columbia is seeking a Civil Engineer to assist in design, development, review and coordination of City capital improvement projects. The role involves collaboration with engineers, drafters and inspectors to ensure quality and compliance.

You will prepare bid documents, assist in surveys and permit applications, and monitor project spending while maintaining records. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and EIT preferred are required or desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Two years of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
• E.I.T registration in SC preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with professional civil engineering work on water, sewer, stormwater and capital projects.
• Prepare bid documents and permit drawings.
• Coordinate projects with local, state and federal agencies, contractors and inspectors.
• Review contractor pay requests and monitor project spending.
• Maintain accurate project records and supervise CAD technicians and drafters.
