We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer specialising in Water Resources to support the delivery of complex infrastructure and environmental projects. This role will suit a technically capable engineer who can combine sound civil engineering knowledge with practical project coordination skills. You will contribute to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of water-related assets, including drainage systems, flood mitigation schemes, stormwater infrastructure, waterways and water-sensitive urban design projects.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing engineering designs, calculations, technical reports, drawings and specifications; coordinating investigations, surveys and site assessments; and supporting project planning, cost estimation, procurement and construction activities. You will liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, authorities and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues, monitor progress and ensure projects meet approved scope, budget, programme and quality requirements. The position will also involve undertaking site inspections, assessing construction compliance, managing design changes and contributing to risk assessments, approvals and environmental considerations. You may be required to provide technical guidance to junior engineers and assist with developing improved processes and engineering solutions.
Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience in water resources, drainage, flood modelling, civil infrastructure or a comparable field. Experience with engineering design and modelling software, such as Civil 3D, 12D, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW or equivalent platforms, will be highly regarded. Knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, safety obligations and environmental requirements is essential. You will need strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical ability and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and confident managing multiple priorities, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams. Professional registration or progress towards registration will be advantageous.
