We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Engineering Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will involve managing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating technical design activities, and ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, utilities, and internal stakeholders to develop practical, sustainable solutions for water and wastewater networks, treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage assets, and related infrastructure.
Key responsibilities will include defining project scope, budgets, programmes, and resourcing requirements; overseeing feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover; and monitoring progress, risks, costs, quality, and performance throughout the project lifecycle. You will provide technical and commercial leadership, manage change control and project reporting, support contract administration, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements, and environmental obligations. The role will also involve mentoring project teams, contributing to bids and proposals, building strong client relationships, and identifying opportunities to improve delivery methods and operational outcomes.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water, wastewater, or a related engineering discipline, together with substantial experience managing water or wastewater projects. Professional registration or chartership, where applicable, is desirable. You will need a strong understanding of project management principles, design and construction processes, risk management, procurement, and relevant technical standards. Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a changing environment. Experience using project management, scheduling, cost-control, and design software would be advantageous. A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering safe, sustainable, and high-quality infrastructure are expected.
