Job summary

Stratus, a national engineering and design firm, is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to support land development and industrial projects. The role blends hands-on civil design with project management, client engagement, permitting coordination, and team leadership.

The ideal candidate will plan, design, and manage projects while liaising with clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors. Travel opportunities across the country are available.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in engineering design and project coordination.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with site planning, grading design, stormwater and permitting.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil engineering and land development projects from concept through construction.
• Coordinate project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resources.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, contractors, municipalities and agencies.
• Support business development through client relationships and opportunities.
• Lead and prepare designs and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Develop site layouts, grading, stormwater, utilities, erosion control, and drainage analyses.
• Prepare reports, specifications, permitting applications, and technical docs.
• Coordinate with environmental, geotechnical, survey, traffic, and utility teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers; ensure QC of deliverables.
• Collaborate with PMs and leadership to set priorities and goals.
• Promote safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
