Job summary

Parkhill is seeking a professional civil engineer with a focus on site development to join our Lubbock, Texas team. This full-time, exempt position offers an opportunity to contribute to diverse site development projects and advance design skills.

The successful candidate will lead engineers and technicians, oversee design in drainage, grading, utilities, and site elements, and develop strong client relationships with municipal authorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • Professional engineer license in Texas.
  • Minimum 6 years of site development experience.
  • Experience with entitlements, site planning, drainage, and municipal permitting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineers and technicians on project teams.
  • Supervise design in pavement, utilities, grading, site elements, and drainage.
  • Develop client relationships and manage project financials.
  • Coordinate with City departments and attend hearings as needed.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes, fees, and track performance.
  • Oversee site design for office, retail, industrial, and institutional buildings.
  • Manage residential subdivisions from acquisition to finished lots.
  • Oversee municipal roadway, drainage, and planning projects.

Civil Professional Engineer

Location: US-TX-Lubbock

Overview

Parkhill is seeking a professional civil engineer with a specialization in site development to be part of our team in Lubbock, Texas. This position is an opportunity to enhance one's design skills while working on Parkhill's diverse range of site development related work. This is a full-time, exempt position paid on a salary basis.

Parkhill is one of the largest architectural and engineering firms in the Southwest with14offices located throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership and management of engineers and technicians.
  • Technical supervision and design capabilities in the areas of pavement, utilities, grading, site elements, and drainage.
  • Client development and management, including successful relationships, financial accounting, and responsiveness.
  • Familiarity with local zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, and other design criteria.
  • Manage demands of in-house and external surveying support.
  • Community involvement including active participation and seeking leadership roles in civic, technical, and professional organizations.
  • Develops proposals, scopes, fees, and tracking performance.
  • Development and maintenance of relationships with City departments.
  • Presentations at hearings, Commissions, and Council meetings.
  • Project types to include:
    • Site Design for Office, Retail, Industrial, and Institutional Buildings
    • Residential Subdivisions from Land Acquisition to Finished Lots
    • Municipal Roadway, Drainage, and Planning projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Professional engineer registration in Texas.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the types of responsibilities listed above.
  • Additional desirable experience would include:
    • Experience including plans production and management of the following tasks:
      • Experience with entitlements such as Platting, Zoning, and Municipal Permitting
      • Experience with Site Planning and Development Master Planning
      • Grading and Drainage Design
      • Street and Alley Design
      • Site Design
      • Water and Wastewater Design
      • Hydrology and Hydraulics Analysis and Design
      • General Civil Design
      • Construction Management
      • Software including AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
      • SWP3s
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with clients, staff, municipal authorities, vendors, and contractors.
  • Must be able to attend City Council/client meetings as needed.
