Job summary

GRAEF, a leading U.S. engineering consultant, invites an accomplished Civil Engineering Leader to join our Minneapolis office. You will lead single and multi-discipline projects, drive business development, and mentor teams across engineering functions.

The role requires 8+ years of site development experience, a Minnesota PE, and strong client communication. We offer a hybrid schedule and a collaborative, growth-focused environment in the Twin Cities area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years leading site development, municipal roadway or utility projects.
  • Experience in business development planning and client development.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management, sanitary sewer and water main design.
  • PE license in Minnesota; other Midwest licenses a plus.
  • Strong communication and client interaction skills.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Civil3D and hydrology/hydraulic software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, interviews, and client management.
  • Develop new business opportunities by strengthening relationships with existing clients.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and associations to boost visibility.
  • Project engineering and management including project oversight, budgeting, and design involvement.
  • Serve as a technical resource for site civil team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, project interviews/presentations, and client management.
  • Develop new business opportunities by strengthening relationships with existing clients and creating new client connections.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, professional associations, and community activities to enhance visibility and market presence
  • Project engineering and management including project oversight, setting priorities and developing objectives, project financial management as well as hands‑on involvement in the design process.
  • The ability to serve as a technical resource for site civil team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in leading a wide variety of site development projects, municipal roadway or utility projects. Candidates with additional experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Success in business development planning, including developing strategic business plans, marketing activities, client development, presentation experience and proposal development.
  • Knowledge of general civil engineering, including stormwater management design, municipal utility design and permitting regulations.
  • Knowledge of municipal utility design including sanitary sewer and water main.
  • Experience managing a group would be considered a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Minnesota. PE licenses in other Midwest states is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and a proven track record in successfully interacting with clients and internal team members is necessary.
  • General knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D, hydrology and hydraulic software.
