Civil and Environmental Consultants (CEC) in Greenville, SC seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to lead our Civil/Site practice, grow client relationships, and oversee land development projects. You will guide project teams, ensure quality, and drive strategic growth with regional stakeholders while mentoring engineers and partnering across disciplines.

The role emphasizes business development, technical leadership, and governance across the lifecycle from planning to construction, with ownership

Qualifications

• 10+ years in land development and civil engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• P.E. license in South Carolina.
• Proven success developing new business and expanding client relationships.
• Established network in Upstate SC and Carolinas.
• Ability to originate opportunities, develop proposals, convert relationships.
• Ability to leverage client relationships across disciplines.
• Experience reviewing civil deliverables and managing projects.
• Experience leading staff and mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development for Greenville Civil/Site practice.
• Expand network of developers, architects, contractors, and energy clients.
• Develop strategic growth plans for key clients.
• Maintain regional development community presence.
• Collaborate across practices to identify client needs.
• Lead proposals, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Manage projects from proposal through construction and close.
• Review site layouts, grading plans, stormwater, utilities.
• Ensure QA/QC and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff.
• Contribute to market strategy and recruitment.
