  • Drafting, editing, and formatting legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, affidavits, and other documents, for review by attorneys.
  • Accurately filing legal documents in Federal and State courts.
  • Organizing and archiving evidence and other documents in active cases according to the firm’s naming conventions and document management practices.
  • Professionally communicating with clients, colleagues, counsel, and court personnel via phone, email, and in person.
  • Assisting attorneys with preparation for various proceedings, including preparing exhibit binders and coordinating with witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Maintaining records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
  • Assisting the office manager in the administrative operations of the firm and Columbus office.
  • Managing multiple projects and following up to ensure deadlines are met.
Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3+ years of paralegal or legal assistant experience, ideally in civil litigation.
  • Associate degree in paralegal studies, post-degree paralegal certificate, or equivalent required.
  • Strong technical and computer skills to include MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel; PDF editing applications; and strong Internet research skills.
  • Excellent proofreading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding time-management and organizational skills.
  • Professional and positive team attitude.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects as needed.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Retirement 401(k) savings plan with vested 4% employer matching.
  • Generous and flexible vacation policy.
  • Professional development opportunities and support for continuing legal education.
