Job summary

Austin Industrial in Lafayette, IN seeks a Civil Journeyman to build, install and repair structures using wood, concrete and metal in a busy construction environment. You will read blueprints, set forms, erect scaffolding and ensure safety on site while delivering quality workmanship.

Required are 3–5 years journeyman experience, a valid State ID, and ability to operate basic power tools and a forklift. Excellent teamwork and adherence to schedule are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Journeyman level construction experience.
• Valid State ID.
• Ability to read blueprints and lay out projects.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications in blueprints to prepare layout and materials.
• Shape or cut materials to measurements using hand tools or power saws.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean site environment.
• Erect and destruct concrete forms, scaffolding and ramps.
• Repair or replace damaged parts with hand tools.
• Maintain records and present progress reports.
• Verify trueness of structure and set grade.
• Move materials including concrete and asphalt.
• Fabricate and install concrete reinforcing bars.
• Place and finish concrete.
• Maintain tools and secure the site daily.
• Operate a forklift and move furniture as needed.
• Perform painting as required.
• Prepare water and deliver to crafts or units.
• Replace doors, walls and build stairs as needed.
