Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Group Leader to direct a civil engineering team based in Michigan (Ann Arbor, Detroit, East Lansing, Brighton). The role focuses on leading degreed engineers in completing civil and site projects for municipal clients, with emphasis on pipeline, site design, stormwater, and paving.

Strong leadership and client-management skills are essential. The position requires PE licensure, 8+ years of experience, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
• PE license in Civil Engineering.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Active participation in ASCE, AWWA and WEF.
• Extensive experience in underground utilities and site development.
• Experience with administering construction contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and site engineering projects for municipal clients.
• Manage teams performing underground utility and site design, cost estimating, and report preparation.
• Develop and maintain client relationships while generating new business opportunities.
• Deliver public presentations to technical and non-technical audiences and support marketing.
• Coordinate staffing and balance monthly labor forecasts with operations management.
• Ensure technical accuracy and adherence to standards across reports and designs.
• Evaluate project alternatives and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Meet backlog, utilization, and invoicing financial goals.
• Lead proposals, scope writing, and pricing for BD efforts.
• Serve as SME in underground utilities and site development.
• Identify recruiting needs and support growth across Michigan.
