Job summary

Fountain Development LLC is seeking an experienced Civil Grading Foreman to lead grading and sitework crews on commercial and residential development projects across Western North Carolina. You will direct daily field operations, coordinate equipment and manpower, and ensure safety and quality on every job.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil construction, grading, or site development experience.
• Experience leading a grading or sitework crew.
• Strong understanding of site grading, cut/fill, building pads, slopes, and earthwork operations.
• Ability to read grading plans, construction drawings, and elevations.
• Experience operating and/or directing heavy equipment; GPS grading or machine control is preferred.

Your Role

Fountain Development LLC is seeking an experienced Civil Grading Foreman to lead grading and sitework crews on commercial and residential development projects throughout Western North Carolina. This position is responsible for directing daily field operations, coordinating equipment and manpower, maintaining production and quality standards, and ensuring work is completed safely and according to plans and specifications.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise grading and sitework crews on active construction sites.
• Plan and coordinate daily work activities, manpower, and equipment to meet project schedules.
• Read and interpret civil plans, grading plans, specifications, and elevations.
• Ensure excavation, embankment, cut/fill, slopes, building pads, and other grading work is completed to required grades and specifications.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, surveyors, subcontractors, and other trades to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Operate and oversee the safe operation of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, and other grading equipment.
• Monitor production, material quantities, and job progress and communicate updates to project leadership.
• Use GPS machine control and/or grade control systems to verify and maintain accurate grades.
• Perform quality control checks and identify and correct grading or sitework issues.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
• Train, direct, and hold crew members accountable for safe work practices, quality, and productivity.
• Coordinate equipment, trucking, and material needs to minimize downtime.
• Maintain daily records and communicate project needs, delays, and field conditions to management.
• Assist with resolving field issues and adjusting work plans as project conditions change.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in civil construction, grading, or site development.
• Previous experience leading a grading or sitework crew.
• Strong understanding of site grading, cut/fill, building pads, slopes, and earthwork operations.
• Ability to read and understand grading plans, construction drawings, and elevations.
• Experience operating and/or directing the operation of heavy equipment.
• Experience with GPS grading or machine control systems preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple crews, equipment, and activities in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Commitment to jobsite safety and quality workmanship.
