Job summary

Kiewit invites motivated students pursuing civil engineering, electrical engineering or construction management to join the Summer 2027 Internship in the Eastern District. This hands-on program offers exposure to field engineering, project planning, cost control and safety-critical environments.

You will rotate through disciplines in heavy civil construction, including bridges, tunnels and energy projects, with relocation opportunities across the Northeast/Great Lakes region.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil, electrical engineering, construction management or related.
• Able to travel/relocate as needed.
• Available May–August for summer internship.
• Strong work ethic and initiative.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking and material procurement.
• Experience handling contract administration, estimating and supervision of field activities.
• Maintain records of job progress, costs and material usage.
• Plan and schedule job segments and supervise field tasks.
• Investigate issues and recommend solutions.
• Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
• Collaborate with suppliers to facilitate delivery of materials.
