Job summary

Kiewit’s Eastern District is seeking Engineer Interns for the Summer 2027 Intern Program. You’ll join field operations to gain hands-on experience in construction management across bridges, tunnels, and energy projects.

Travel and relocation may be required as projects move, with a focus on safety, ethics, and high-quality execution. This internship offers a pathway to full-time opportunities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel or relocate as needed
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction management or related
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environments
• Strong work ethic and initiative; ethics and integrity are essential
• Safety passion and commitment to preventing injuries
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Team player who can also work independently to meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, supervision of field activities
• Performing engineering tasks using standard techniques and solving minor technical problems on site
• Maintaining records on job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job segments
• Investigating problems and proposing solutions/alternatives as appropriate
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing
• Coordinating with suppliers to facilitate material delivery
