Civil Estimator – Bid & Takeoff Specialist

Job summary

ORION is seeking an Estimator to analyze project plans, specs and soils reports to determine cost estimates including materials, labor rates and hours, equipment, supplier, and subcontractor costs for bid proposals. Office-based with some travel to job sites for estimating.

The incumbent will work different shifts and long hours (8-12 hours) as needed to meet bid deadlines, and must support Orion's safety, quality, delivery, teamwork, and integrity values.

Qualifications

• 3 years field or estimating experience in civil construction or equivalent.
• BS degree preferred in a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and cost estimating skills.
• Proficiency with takeoff software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Self perform takeoffs utilizing Agtek and Geotech reports.
• Collaborate with Estimating Manager and Project Management Team to support bid estimation for concrete construction projects.
• Prepare cost analyses and review/write proposals for completeness and accuracy.
• Develop and maintain a weekly bid calendar to ensure timely completion of estimates.
• Maintain cost data, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in installation.
• Maintain confidentiality of company information.
